About Space NeedleIt is located at the Seattle Center and it was built for the 1962 World’s Fair. The Space Needle is an impressive tower of 605 feet high at its highest point, with a width of 138 m at its widest point, weighting 9,550 tons. Its solid structure was designed to resist any kind of hazards. At the time of its completion it was actually the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River.
Once you decide to visit the Space Needle, you won’t be disappointed by what it has to offer: there is an observation deck at 520 feet, while the gift shop and the rotating SkyCity restaurant are waiting for you at 500 feet. In order to reach the top of the tower, you will have to take the elevator which will get you there in 43 seconds with 16km/h, so prepare for a speedy ascension.
There is an outstanding view of the city from the top of the Space Needle, so you can admire at ease the Downtown Seattle skyline, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, Elliott Bay, as well as the surrounding islands. So, don’t forget to take your camera for such a sight, it is completely worth it.
Due to its position four-fifths of a mile northwest of most skyscrapers in downtown, Space Needle actually seems the highest construction in Seattle and definitely grants everything you’ve hoped for in terms of view, so enjoy it.
