About Seattle Art Museum (SAM)
The Seattle Art Museum, also known as SAM, is located in the city of Seattle Washington. There are three major facilities under its administration: the main museum is set in downtown Seattle, while the Seattle Asian Art Museum (SAAM) is in Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill, and the Olympic Sculpture Park is to be found on the central Seattle waterfront.

If you decide to visit the Olympic Sculpture Park, then you will benefit from free entrance, while SAM and SAAM offer free admission on the first Thursday of the month and SAAM even on the first Saturday. Another good news is that you can actually pay normally or just as much as you can because you are welcome to enjoy the museum all the same.

The Seattle Art Museum has known great development in time: its collection grew from 1,926 pieces in 1933 to almost 25,000 starting from 2008 and its surface extended from 25,000 square feet to 312,000 square feet, plus a 9-acre park. There is also a library in the museum, and it has increased from 1,400 books to 33,252.

There is no doubt that the Seattle Art Museum offers plenty of things to see. This is why it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. It houses quite a number of remarkable collections, gathering nearly 25,000 pieces, so prepare for an eclectic experience.

You will have access to impressive collections of modern and ethnic art, while its more traditional European painting and sculpture collection is not that large because it relies on traveling exhibitions.

However, you will be able to admire early Italian paintings by Dalmasio Scannabecchi, Puccio di Simone, Giovanni di Paolo, Luca Di Tomme, Bartolomeo Vivarini, and Paolo Uccello, and works by V. Sellaer, Jan Molenaer, Emanuel De Witte, Luca Giordano, Luca Carlevaris, Armand Guillaumin, and Camille Pissarro. The Seattle Art Museum also offers a large collection of Twentieth Century American paintings by Jacob Lawrence and Mark Tobey, adding a notable collection of Aboriginal Australian Art.

With so many things to admire, all you need is time, but the Seattle Art Museum is open for you any time so do come to pay more than a short visit.
