About Husky StadiumBeing set between Montlake Boulevard N.E. and Union Bay, the stadium was built in a U-shape and was precisely oriented in order to minimize the glare from the early afternoon sun which would bother the athletes.
The open end of the Husky Stadium offers an amazing view to Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains, as well as to Mount Rainier. The Husky Stadium games are also accessible by boat because there is the possibility to watch them from Lake Washington.
Husky Stadium replaced Denny Field, which used to be located on the north end of upper campus. The first game hosted by the Husky Stadium was the final game of the 1920 season, a 28-7 loss to Dartmouth on November 27th.
The Husky Stadium was also the place of president Warren Harding’s last address before his sudden death, and it has also housed the speech of other public personalities such as president Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The stadium also housed the loudest game in the college football history in 1992 in the game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, measuring a noise level o f 135 decibels, which is above the threshold of pain.
Home to the Washington Huskies of the Pacific-10 Conference, the Husky Stadium is hosting its football and track and field competitions, as well as the wonderful opening and closing ceremonies.
